66 Burnett Street

Under the coordination of Ireneinc, a five-storey apartment building has been approved for construction at 66 Burnett Street, North Hobart. This innovative development offers a unique combination of visitor accommodations, residential apartments, and a trendy café, making it an exceptional addition to the area.

As part of our comprehensive planning process, Ireneinc completed a detailed planning report that responded to key discretions relating to use, noise, traffic, parking, and heritage. The site is situated within the Commercial Zone and is identified as a ‘priority site’ for residential development in the Infill Development Pilot Project. With growing residential demand in the area, this proposal presented an ideal opportunity for infill development, allowing the site to reach its full potential.

Despite the benefits of the location, the project faced some challenges as it involved brownfield development into an established area that hosts a number of residential and commercial neighbors, including a bar and live music venue, which presented attenuation constraints. To address these challenges, Ireneinc worked closely with a team of expert consultants to undertake the planning application process. Our collective efforts successfully secured approval for a total of 72 apartments, ultimately satisfying the council that all relevant discretions were met.
